NASCAR Cup Series: Top 5 active superspeedway drivers
Top 5 superspeedway drivers: No. 3 – Brad Keselowski
If this list were made a few years ago, Brad Keselowski would be the obvious choice for the best superspeedway driver. He falls short of that honor due to his performance in the past nine superspeedway races.
In the past nine superspeedway races, Keselowski’s average finish is 28.11. He has not scored a top 10 finish at a superspeedway since his win at Talladega Superspeedway in the 2017 Alabama 500. The one positive thing Keselwoski has done the past nine superspeedway races is lead 113 laps.
What keeps Keselowski on this list are his six career wins at the superspeedways, with five coming at Talladega Supserspeedway and one coming at the 2016 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
Before this nine-race stretch for Keselowski, he was virtually unstoppable at the superspeedways, especially at Talladega Superspeedway. It appeared that he was going to replace Dale Earnhardt Jr. as the favorite to dominate the superspeedway races.
Keselowski is one of the best when it comes to the end of the superspeedway races. If he is in contention for the win, more times than not, he will prevail and get the win. He scored one of the biggest wins of his career when he won a must-win race at Talladega Superspeedway in 2014.
He was below the cutoff line for the round of 8 and held off Matt Kenseth and a whole pack of drivers to win and advance to that next round.
Since then, Keselowski has been caught up in a lot of accidents at the superspeedways and has been vocal about the way other drivers block at these tracks. Those drivers include William Byron and teammate Joey Logano.
Do not be surprised if Keselowski’s fortune changes soon and he scores a win at a superspeedway.
