Formula 1: 2020 Power Rankings

Formula 1 Power Rankings: #18 and #17
2019 finish: 18th place (8 points)
Two years in a row, it was believed that Romain Grosjean’s struggles would leave him without a ride at Formula 1’s lone American team. He boosted his stock late in the 2018 season to return in 2019, but he struggled throughout all of 2019 and somehow managed to retain his ride for 2020. But he will need to do more than that to be back again in 2021, especially after being involved in multiple incidents with teammate Kevin Magnussen last year. He has been with Haas since they entered the sport in 2016, but another poor showing may end that tenure.
2019 finish: 16th place (20 points)
In what was Haas’ worst year in their four-year history in Formula 1 last year, Kevin Magnussen still managed to score more than twice as many points as teammate Romain Grosjean did. Even in what was a disastrous season for Haas, Magnussen still managed to record four top nine finishes, including two finishes as the “best of the rest”, illustrating what he is capable of on a good day. He is in a contract year this year, so it will be important for him not to get caught up in on-track squabbles with Grosjean. Other than that, he should be in for a decent year.
