Christopher Bell will be on the move following the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season. Where will he end up competing in 2021? One possible landing spot stands out well above the rest.

After two seasons in the NASCAR Xfinity Series during which he won by far a series-high 15 races driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, Christopher Bell was promoted to the Cup Series to drive for the Joe Gibbs Racing-affiliated Leavine Family Racing behind the wheel of the #95 Toyota.

Bell is a part of a stacked 2020 rookie class which includes all of the “Big 3” of last year’s Xfinity Series season, as Tyler Reddick and Cole Custer were promoted from the Xfinity Series programs of Richard Childress Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing, respectively, to their Cup Series programs this year.

The 25-year-old Norman, Oklahoma native is not technically considered a “free agent” for next year given that he is under a multi-year contract, but his contract is tied to Toyota, not to a specific car or even team.

With that being said, the coronavirus pandemic has left many of the smaller teams in an unstable financial state moving forward.

Unfortunately, Leavine Family Racing, a one-car team, are included among those smaller teams, and they have now officially been sold as a result of this financial struggle. They will not continue beyond the 2020 season.

Additionally, “multi-year” deals in racing sometimes don’t end up being “multi-year” deals anyway, and that is true now more than ever given the pandemic and what it has caused within the garage from a financial standpoint.

So where will Bell end up competing next year? While one destination is obvious, here are three possible landing spots.
