Bubba Wallace 2021 landing spots – JTG Daugherty Racing

This would not be as huge of an upgrade as replacing Matt Kenseth at Chip Ganassi Racing would be, but if a ride opens up at JTG Daugherty Racing for next year, Bubba Wallace should be considered one of the candidates to end up in the seat.

The two-car Chevrolet team have not gotten their desired results out of Ryan Preece since he joined the team as a rookie last season.

Preece’s teammates in both seasons, Chris Buescher last year and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. this year, have proven that this organization is capable of far more than their results have indicated on a weekly basis, and given the fact that Wallace has done a solid job outperforming his equipment at Richard Petty Motorsports going back to the latter half of the 2019 season, he would be a perfect fit.

Barring a major breakout throughout the rest of the season, I don’t see a scenario that involves Preece returning to the #37 Chevrolet next year.

Additionally, Stenhouse has even been hit or miss behind the wheel of the #47 Chevrolet, just as he was during his tenure at Roush Fenway Racing. While his deal with the team is a two-year deal that runs through the 2021 season, we were also told last year that he was under contract with Roush Fenway Racing through 2021, and look how that turned out.

It is hard to see JTG Daugherty Racing cutting Stenhouse after just one season, however, especially given the uncertainty over Preece’s future.

Either way, Wallace could slot in easily here, especially after team co-owner Brad Daugherty was particularly outspoken about NASCAR “doing better” amid the race-related issues involving Wallace this summer.
