NASCAR: 3 possible landing spots for Austin Cindric in 2021
By Asher Fair
Austin Cindric has had a breakout year in the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. Where will he compete in the 2021 season?
Not too long ago, Team Penske’s Austin Cindric was still looking first his first NASCAR Xfinity Series victory since he won the first two races of his career at two road courses, Watkins Glen International and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, on back-to-back weekends last year. He entered the first of these two races with no wins in 53 career starts.
The 22-year-old Columbus, Ohio native was on another lengthy 25-race win drought earlier this season, but he ended it in resounding fashion.
Still with no oval wins to his name, Cindric won both races of the doubleheader at Kentucky Speedway, and he then went on to win again at Texas Motor Speedway before coming up just shy of a fourth straight checkered flag behind Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brandon Jones with a second place finish at Kansas Speedway in a race he dominated.
Suddenly, in a season that had been dominated by Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe, Cindric found himself in the lead of the championship standings, and he found himself the subject of potential Cup Series promotion rumors.
Now sitting in second place in the standings with five victories through one of the races on the three-round, seven-race playoff schedule, Cindric is still the subject of these rumors.
Where will Cindric compete next year? Here are three possible landing spots.
