Possible 2021 John Hunter Nemechek landing spots: #4 – Rick Ware Racing

While Front Row Motorsports may be one of the slower teams in the NASCAR Cup Series, it’s hard to see John Hunter Nemechek giving up a ride with them to drive for Rick Ware Racing, given the fact that Rick Ware Racing are considerably slower.

However, the move could make sense on some level here. For the first time next year, Rick Ware Racing are set to run four chartered entries throughout the entire season, and they have not yet confirmed any of their drivers.

While they are by no means a powerhouse team, this is tied for the most in the Cup Series with Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing. Rick Ware purchased two charters for the 2021 season from Premium Motorsports to run the #15 car and the #27 car along with the #51 car and the #53 car.

The #51 car is technically classified as a Petty Ware Racing entry, since it is run using one of the two Richard Petty Motorsports charters.

This comes after a 2020 season that saw the team, for the first time, run a single driver for more than half of the year, as Joey Gase competed in 32 of the 36 races for them. Brennan Poole, driving for Premium Motorsports, competed in 35 races in 2020, including 31 with Ware classified as the owner following his purchase.

It’s not likely that this is what Nemechek gave up his ride with Bob Jenkins’s team for, but it’s not as far-fetched as it may seem since it’s not like it would require Nemechek to go from being a full-time driver to suddenly only driving in a handful of races each year like previous Rick Ware Racing drivers have done.
