Good change: Nashville Superspeedway makes the schedule

Date: Sunday, June 20 | Race 17 of 36

“Boogity, boogity, boogity, amen”.

Well, it’s not the exact track that the fans wanted, but NASCAR returning to “The Music City” is a massive win for the sport.

I remember watching the Xfinity Series and Truck Series at Nashville Superspeedway on television as a kid, and the racing was phenomenal. I’m glad to see the Cup Series headline the return of racing here. Plus, the low downforce package will make this race great.

NASCAR and Nashville is a combination that works like peanut butter and jelly. NASCAR originated in the south, and the same goes with country music. If you have ever listened to a NASCAR race on the radio, you’re usually listening to a country radio station.

It was great to see NASCAR move its annual Cup Series awards ceremony to Nashville as well, possibly hinting at a future race. That hint was correct.

Now the question is, when will the Fairgrounds be ready for NASCAR competition? Speedway Motorsports Inc., along with city authorities, have been trying to get the sport to come to the improved short track, possibly as soon as 2022. Everyone wants it, including Dale Earnhardt Jr.
