NASCAR Cup Series buy: Bubba Wallace

This one is a little obvious, isn’t it? Bubba Wallace is one of the biggest draws in the sport right now, eating up sponsors like Homer eats donuts. He is going to a brand new team run by the most successful basketball player of all-time in Michael Jordan, with a little financial help from fellow Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin.

What could possibly go wrong?

Well, a lot. Since it’s a new team, the speed or teamwork might not be there immediately. But if you put the time and money into 23XI Racing and let them find their place and their groove, they can be a true force in the Cup Series within a couple of years.

Plus, with all of the team’s financial backing from DoorDash, McDonald’s, Columbia Sportswear, Dr. Pepper and Root Insurance, I don’t think Wallace will have to worry about the new venture failing right out of the gate.

It’s all about risk vs. reward with Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing. A brand new team has a lot to sort out before the green flag waves at Daytona International Speedway on Valentine’s Day. So don’t give up hope one, two or even three races into the 2021 season. Remember, investing in a driver or a team is always a long-term game.
