Drivers moving on after 2020: Daniel Suarez

Daniel Suarez leaving one team and joining another has become a theme over the last few seasons, and for the third year in a row, that is set to be the case in 2020-2021.

Suarez is set to drive for a fourth team in four years this season following just one season behind the wheel of the #96 Toyota at Gaunt Brothers Racing, a season that followed a two-year stint at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2017 and 2018 and a one-year stint at Stewart-Haas Racing in 2019.

Suarez piloted the #96 Toyota for the team in what was their first season as a full-time Cup Series team, but they did not compete with a charter and he failed to qualify for the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.

He finished the season with three top 20 finishes, including top finishes of 18th place at Bristol Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway, and was quite clearly the top driver competing without a charter, but he wants a lot more than that.

Suarez is set to join the new team co-owned by Justin Marks and Pitbull, Trackhouse Racing Team, as the full-time driver of the #99 Chevrolet this season, and most notably, they are set to compete with a charter, guaranteeing that the #99 Chevrolet will have a starting position in all 36 races on the calendar.
