2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series rookies: Ty Gibbs

Ty Gibbs will compete in the season-opening race weekend at Daytona International Speedway. He is set to drive in the ARCA Menards Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway on the same day as the Xfinity Series season opener. Gibbs is running full-time in ARCA this year, chasing that title after finishing in fifth place in the championship standings as a part-time driver last year.

He is slated to make his Xfinity Series debut the following race weekend at the Daytona International Speedway road course behind the wheel of the #54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. His schedule for this season includes an undetermined amount of races.

Gibbs already has experience at the Daytona International Speedway road course. In the inaugural ARCA race there last year, he led a race-high 19 laps en route to finishing runner-up.

Gibbs is incredibly talented at only 18 years old. He has ARCA victories at a variety of different tracks, ranging from the 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway to the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway to the 0.5-mile Winchester Speedway.

In addition to his road course second place finish, Gibbs earned his first top 10 finish (10th) at a dirt track, albeit 10 laps off the lead lap. The grandson of NASCAR Hall of Famer and team owner Joe Gibbs, Ty will shine in his rookie Xfinity Series season.
