Sports car champion to make NASCAR debut

Sports car racing champion Cameron Lawrence is set to make his NASCAR debut in next month’s Truck Series race at Circuit of the Americas.

Reaume Brothers Racing, which field the #33 car and the #34 car on a full-time basis in the NASCAR Truck Series, confirmed earlier this week that they are set to welcome a new driver for next month’s inaugural race at Circuit of the Americas.

He may not have any NASCAR experience, but sports car racing champion Cameron Lawrence is well-equipped to handle the #33 Chevrolet Silverado around the 20-turn, 3.427-mile (5.515-kilometer) road course in Austin, Texas.

And he is set to get the opportunity to do that, with primary sponsorship backing from veteran-owned companies Texas Mobile Radiology, Impact Health Labs and Front Line Mobile Health.

Lawrence, the 28-year-old who hails from Orlando, Florida but currently resides in Austin, has an illustrious sports car racing background.

Lawrence is a two-time SCCA Trans-Am Series TA2 champion (2013 and 2014), and he was crowned WeatherTech SportsCar Championship North American Endurance Cup GTD champion in 2015.

He was also a part of the GTD class-winning Rolex 24 at Daytona effort back in 2015, and he is more than excited to get the opportunity to drive in the Truck Series race at his home road course next month.
