Formula E champion responds to comical social media mix-up

Formula E champion Antonio Felix da Costa lightheartedly corrected what was quite a funny error made by one of his tire manufacturers.
Reigning Formula E champion Antonio Felix da Costa is still competing for DS Techeetah in Formula E.
In fact, he just secured his first win of the 2020-2021 season in the season’s most recent race, the Monaco ePrix, at Circuit de Monaco.
But the 29-year-old Portuguese driver also competes in the World Endurance Championship, and he and #38 Jota teammates Anthony Davidson and Roberto Gonzalez won the LMP2 class battle in this past weekend’s 8 Hours of Portimao in their Oreca 07 at Algarve International Circuit (Portimao).
The win was their first of the 2021 season, and it shot them to the top of the LMP2 standings.

Tire manufacturer Michelin congratulated Toyota Gazoo Racing on their overall win, and they also congratulated da Costa for playing a role in his team’s class win. They shared the following message.
“A segunda prova da temporada do FIA WEC decorreu no Autódromo de Portimao e terminou com uma dobradinha da Toyota na categoria principal e com Antonio Felix da Costa a vencer na LMP2, contando com a preciosa ajuda da aderência e resistência dos pneus MICHELIN Pilot Sport.”
In English, it reads, “The second test of the season of the FIA WEC took place at Autódromo de Portimão and ended with a double from Toyota in the main category and with Antonio Felix da Costa winning at LMP2, counting on the precious help of the grip and endurance of the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT tires.”
But that wasn’t completely true.
Da Costa responded to the congratulatory message and reminded the manufacturer that, while they do provide his tires in Formula E, he runs with Goodyear in the World Endurance Championship. In fact, he just became a Goodyear brand ambassador.
A specification tire was recently introduced in LMP2. This tire is produced by Goodyear, ending the tire war between Goodyear and Michelin within the class.
“Eu corro com Goodyear no WEC De qualquer forma obrigado pelos parabens,” Da Costa replied.
In English, it reads, “I run with Goodyear at WEC. Anyway thanks for the congratulations.”
Take a look.
