Possible Kurt Busch landing spots for 2022: No. 2 – Trackhouse Racing Team

Speaking of new NASCAR Cup Series teams in 2021, Trackhouse Racing Team has emerged as an option for Kurt Busch in 2022.

Even before they announced that they will be acquiring Chip Ganassi Racing for next year and running two cars, both with charters, as opposed to one, Busch confirmed that they had reached out to him about potentially piloting a second car alongside Daniel Suarez in the #99 Chevrolet. Suarez is set to pilot the #99 Chevrolet again next year.

While the growing pains experienced by this new team haven’t been nearly as discussed as those experienced by 23XI Racing, the veteran presence that Busch could provide for this young team could still prove paramount with them set to expand in only their second year of competition.

Trackhouse Racing Team have said that they are considering both current Chip Ganassi Racing drivers, Busch and Ross Chastain, for their second seat, but they may have tipped their hand by reaching out to Busch even before the big news about their purchase of the team was announced.

Another advantage of this move over a move to 23XI Racing is the fact that it would allow Busch to stick with Chevrolet as opposed to make a switch to Toyota, a manufacturer for which he has never driven in the Cup Series. Entering the first year of the Next Gen car, that continuity could provide somewhat of a subtle advantage.
