Drivers who can impact the playoffs: No. 3 – Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Like Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has had great success at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. Stenhouse has one win at both venues, with both wins coming back in 2017. He hasn’t won a race since.

Stenhouse hasn’t had much luck this year in the superspeedway races, either. He fell multiple laps down in both superspeedway races that took place earlier this season, posting finishes of 18th place at Daytona International Speedway and 33rd at Talladega Superspeedway. So what’s threatening about Stenhouse to win before the end of the regular season?

Stenhouse’s aggression and determination behind the wheel are what has put him in position to win superspeedway races in the past. The execution of his bold moves on the race track have a tendency to go wrong at times, but when he can execute these moves for position, he does them better than any other driver in the field.

If Stenhouse can control his aggression in the first half of the night race at Daytona International Speedway and keep his car clean, he’ll surely have a chance to win his way into the playoffs and upset the playoff picture.

Some of the aggressive moves that he could make in the regular season finale may even benefit him a week earlier at Michigan International Speedway due to the usage of the 550-horsepower package, making the driver of the #47 JTG Daugherty Racing Chevrolet a potential threat in that race as well.
