Possible Bubba Wallace teammates: No. 3 – John Hunter Nemechek

We can’t forget about the fact that 23XI Racing are considering a young gun for their second seat if they do, in fact, expand for the 2022 season.

With Xfinity Series driver Harrison Burton already committed to a promotion to the Cup Series with Wood Brothers Racing, there is no better young Toyota drivers in NASCAR’s two lower national series right now than John Hunter Nemechek.

Nemechek is only 24 years old, yet you could even make the case for him as being a NASCAR veteran, given how long he has been competing in the lower series.

After one season in the Cup Series with Front Row Motorsports last year, he made the gamble to drop down to the Truck Series with a team for which he believed he would be able to show his true skillset: Kyle Busch Motorsports. And he has done just that thus far, winning five races in his first 16 starts and establishing himself as the championship favorite behind the wheel of the #4 Toyota.

But perhaps the most notable stat is this.

We all know how Kyle Busch loves “beating up on the kids” or “stealing candy from babies” by racing in the Truck Series five times each season, usually taking the checkered flag when he competes.

He ran his five races this season, but he only won twice. All three non-wins were runner-up finishes. All runner-up finishes came behind Nemechek.

This “young gun” has what it takes in the right stuff.
