Key #2 to Team Penske success: Joey Logano rebound, Ryan Blaney consistency

Of course, the organization’s other two drivers will also be a key factor, specifically in terms of whether Joey Logano can rebound from a down year and whether Ryan Blaney can remain consistent.

With Brad Keselowski’s departure, Logano is now the elder statesman on the team. He had a rough season by his standards, with just one win, 10 top five finishes, and 19 top 10 finishes. Those figures were his lowest since 2017 and marked only the third time that he won just a single race in a season since joining Team Penske in 2013.

Logano has 25 wins, 122 top five finishes, and the 2018 championship to his credit during his nine seasons driving the #22 Ford. As a 13-year veteran of full-time Cup Series competition, the experience and leadership he brings to the organization will be important, especially with the addition of rookie Austin Cindric.

Blaney has also grown into his own with Team Penske. After one win in each in his first three seasons with the team, he found victory lane three times in 2021 and recorded a career-best average finish of 11.9.

He has been the face of consistency, with 11 top five finishes in each of the last three seasons and points finishes between seventh and 10th place in each of the last five. With more Cup Series experience under his belt, he has shown that he can help carry the team. He will need to continue to put together consistent and slightly improved results in 2022.
