Multiple charters have changed hands ahead of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season. Here is a list of where all 36 are for the upcoming season.

Two months into the offseason, the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season is now scheduled to get underway next month. After a chaotic silly season, things are pretty much settled as far as the driver lineup is concerned.

One of the key topics of discussion throughout this past silly season was the charter market, given how many teams were looking at entering the Cup Series or expanding their efforts with the introduction of the Next Gen car.

There were indeed a lot of charter transactions throughout silly season. Kaulig Racing purchased two charters from Spire Motorsports, including the one they had leased out to Trackhouse Racing Team.

Trackhouse Racing Team acquired Chip Ganassi Racing, and their two charters came along with it, and 23XI Racing purchased StarCom Racing’s charter after they shuttered their operation.

Petty GMS Motorsports formed when Richard Petty Motorsports merged with GMS Racing, and the Richard Petty Motorsports-owned charter that had been used by Rick Ware Racing is set to serve as this team’s second charter.

So let’s take a quick look at where all the charters are for the 2022 season.

If you count all of the entries listed, you end up at 35, leaving one charter without a confirmed home for the 2022 season.

That charter is currently possessed by Rick Ware Racing, but they have hinted that they will stick with two cars for the upcoming season and either sell or lease out their other charter.

If Rick Ware Racing do indeed carry through with their two-car program, it has been rumored that Spire Motorsports will secure their extra charter. This would bring Spire Motorsports back to two charters for 2022 after they parted ways with two of their three from 2021.

This would allow them to run the #77 Chevrolet for multiple drivers alongside full-time driver Corey LaJoie in the #7 Chevrolet.
