NASCAR seats missing drivers: No. 2 – #78 Live Fast Motorsports Ford

After shooting down various rumors of a potential charter sale throughout the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season, their first season in the series, the B.J. McLeod and Matt Tifft-owned Live Fast Motorsports team are set to return with their one car again in 2022.

McLeod was the primary driver of the #78 Ford throughout the 2021 season, and that is set to be the case once again in the 2022 season.

But the car did see four other drivers last year, with McLeod sitting out of eight of the season’s 36 races: the seven road and street course races and the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race.

Scott Heckert competed at the Daytona International Speedway road course, Sonoma Raceway and the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. Kyle Tilley competed at Circuit of the Americas, Road America and Watkins Glen International. Andy Lally competed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, and Shane Golobic competed in the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race.

This year, there are just six road course races on the schedule as opposed to seven (no more Daytona International Speedway road course), plus the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race, so it is expected that McLeod will be behind the wheel of the #78 Ford for 29 races as opposed to 28. But even this is technically still up in the air.
