Formula 1: The record Lewis Hamilton could break at any time

Lewis Hamilton has positioned himself to break yet another one of Michael Schumacher’s Formula 1 records in the 2022 season.

The last few Formula 1 seasons have seen Lewis Hamilton break many all-time records, including several which were previously held by seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

Most notably, Hamilton overtook Schumacher as the winningest driver in the history of the sport, securing his 92nd victory in October 2020 en route to winning his record-tying seventh world championship.

Now tied with Schumacher with seven world titles, he is pursuing number eight this season after coming up just shy in his first attempt last year.

But despite falling shy of an eighth title last year, he has positioned himself to break yet another Schumacher record in 2022.

And we aren’t even talking about the world championships record.

Hamilton began competing in Formula 1 in the 2007 season, and he has won at least one race in each of his first 15 seasons in the sport.

He had already comfortably held the record for most consecutive winning seasons to open up a career. Now his 15-year winning streak is tied with Schumacher’s record of 15 consecutive winning seasons at any point throughout a Formula 1 career.

Schumacher won his first race in his second season in 1992, and he won at least one race every year from 1992 to 2006. All 91 of his victories and seven world titles came within that 15-year span.
