Top NASCAR teams of 2022: No. 5 – Richard Childress Racing

Richard Childress Racing brought back both of their drivers from last year, and Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick have had a year of ups and downs. Dillon currently sits in 14th place in the point standings with Reddick right behind him in 15th.

When the two drivers can stay out of trouble during races, they tend to finish well. They have racked up nine top 10 finishes, with six of them being top five results. The team’s main issue through 12 races this year has been their combined total of six DNFs.

Dillon has had his fair share of good finishes this year. With two second place finishes at Auto Club Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, the driver of the number #3 Chevrolet always seems to find himself in the mix.

Although Dillon has one more point than his teammate, Reddick has led 206 laps this season and always seems to be in contention for the win. He is still searching for his first career Cup Series win, but he has finished in second place twice this year, doing so in the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway and at Darlington Raceway.

If these two drivers can stay clean for the rest of the year, look for at least one of them to make a playoff run.
