Top NASCAR teams of 2022: No. 3 – Joe Gibbs Racing

Toyota’s only four-car team has been a consistent powerhouse in the NASCAR Cup Series for several years now. This year has been no different. Joe Gibbs Racing have three out of their four drivers currently in the top 10 in the point standings.

The surprise for this team in the 2022 season has been the struggle of Denny Hamlin. Through 12 races, Hamlin is tied for the most DNFs among the 32 full-time drivers with four. His only top 10 finish came when he took his #11 Toyota to victory lane at Richmond Raceway, a win he may very well need to get into the playoffs.

The only other driver on this team with a win is Kyle Busch. Busch stole the checkered flag at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race after the last-lap incident involving race leaders Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe. Busch does have eight top 10 finishes this season, good for second best in the Cup Series.

The other two drivers on this team, Martin Truex Jr. and Christopher Bell, have each placed in the top 10 in five races, and both are in the top 10 in points with Busch. The team have a total of eight top five finishes this year. One thing is for certain: no matter where the race is, expect a Toyota to be up front racing for the win.
