Possible Zane Smith landing spots: No. 1 – Front Row Motorsports (Truck Series)

Straying away from the idea of moving him to the Cup Series, Front Row Motorsports could elect to ride Zane Smith’s momentum in the Truck Series into the 2023 season.

Since Front Row Motorsports began fielding the #38 Ford in 2020, Smith has been their top driver. Todd Gilliland drove the truck in 2020 and 2021, and he only scored one win at Circuit of the Americas (2021). Smith not only won at that exact track this season, but he has scored victories at Daytona International Speedway and Kansas Speedway as well.

With three wins already in 2022, Smith gives Front Row Motorsports the best chance to be championship contenders in the Truck Series, and the team may not be ready to move on from him.

Smith has finished in second place in the championship standings in each of the last two seasons, then competing for GMS Racing. Bringing Front Row Motorsports their first NASCAR championship, as well his first, may be more appealing than switching rides.

Smith adds a sense of stability to a younger team in the Truck Series, and he is building his NASCAR resume in the process. This “best of both worlds” scenario may be too good to walk away from.

While Smith could most definitely be a factor in the Xfinity Series or Cup Series, his ability to compete for wins each week in the Truck Series makes this the best option for him in 2023. At 23 years old, he has plenty of time to move up the ladder in NASCAR, and not being rushed may be what’s best for the 2020 Truck Series Most Popular Driver.
