IndyCar: 2022 Nashville qualifying – Full starting lineup
By Asher Fair
The starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s IndyCar race on the streets of Nashville is set following Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session.
IndyCar is set for the 14th of 17 races on the 2022 schedule and the fifth of five races in a 22-day span this Sunday afternoon on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee.
This year’s running of the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix is the second annual running of the race. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Marcus Ericsson won the inaugural running last August.
Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin took the pole for Sunday afternoon’s 80-lap race around the 11-turn, 2.17-mile (3.492-kilometer) temporary street circuit outside Nissan Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Titans.
McLaughlin took the pole position by recording a top lap time of 74.5555 seconds (101.401 miles per hour) behind the wheel of his #3 Chevrolet in the Firestone Fast Six, the third and final round of the qualifying session.
Andretti Autosport’s Romain Grosjean is set to start alongside McLaughlin on the outside of the front row in second place after recording a top lap time of 74.6975 seconds (101.208 miles per hour) behind the wheel of his #28 Honda.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing rookie Christian Lundgaard earned a career-best third place starting position behind the wheel of his #30 Honda, just one week after earning his first career podium finish, a second place effort, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
Points leader Will Power of Team Penske qualified in eighth place behind the wheel of his #12 Chevrolet after being denied a spot in the Firestone Fast Six as a result of a penalty. Ericsson, who sits second in the championship standings, qualified in 18th behind the wheel of his #8 Honda.
