Possible Mick Schumacher 2023 landing spots: No. 2 – AlphaTauri

It has not only been rumored that Mick Schumacher could leave Haas at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season, but also the Ferrari development program entirely.

It was recently reported that team principal Mattia Binotto no longer believes in Schumacher’s potential, and while both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. under contract with the Scuderia through the 2024 season, it may be in Schumacher’s best interest to join another development program.

If that is what ends up happening, don’t rule out a switch to Red Bull, especially considering some of the favorable comments made about him by Helmut Marko, the team advisor who serves as the head of their driver development program.

While a switch to Red Bull wouldn’t mean Schumacher joins the top team, it could mean he remains in Formula 1 with sister team AlphaTauri.

Pierre Gasly is under contract with the Italian team for next year, although there is still some speculation that he could get out of that deal and join another organization. Regardless of what happens with him, however, AlphaTauri do have a seat open, as they have yet to commit to Yuki Tsunoda for another year.

Team principal Franz Tost is reportedly keen to give Tsunoda a third year with the team, but until something is signed, there is no guarantee, especially given some of the “problem child” comments Marko has made about the Japanese youngster.
