NASCAR: 5 teams with no drivers announced for 2023

NASCAR teams without plans announced: No. 4 – Live Fast Motorsports
Live Fast Motorsports are in their second season in the NASCAR Cup Series. B.J. McLeod, who co-owns the team with former driver Matt Tifft, is the primary driver of their #78 Ford.
He doesn’t compete in all races, however, as a number of other drivers have been called upon to drive the car in the road course races and the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
With the #78 team currently sitting in 36th place in the owner standings, lowest among the charter teams, Live Fast Motorsports could risk having their charter repossessed within the next few years as a result of the NASCAR performance standard mentioned on the previous slide.
The 2022 season won’t be the team’s second straight season outside of the top 33, however, as they finished in a solid 31st place in year one.
But even with five races remaining on this year’s schedule, there is little doubt that the 2022 season will be their first, as they are nowhere near making the jump necessary to pass one team, much less three or more.
Regardless of who drives the car in 2023, it doesn’t look like there is much hope for a different result, either.
While there is no guarantee that a repossession would occur, nobody wants to be in the position where NASCAR has that option, especially a team that have shown little signs of progress in terms of pace. If there are any charter transactions on the horizon, don’t sleep on Live Fast Motorsports as the potential seller or lender.
