Possible Kurt Busch replacements: No. 2 – Tyler Reddick

Tyler Reddick is the name that many continue to link to 23XI Racing as Kurt Busch’s replacement, and for good reason: the team have already announced that he is set to join the team in 2024. Should Busch decide to retire after the 2023 season, Reddick replacing him seems like the obvious answer.

But could Reddick also make the move to 23XI Racing a year early in the event that Busch decides not to come back?

Richard Childress Racing currently run two cars, and they have announced that Kyle Busch is set to join the team as Reddick’s replacement behind the wheel of the #8 Chevrolet in 2023.

They also announced that Reddick is still set to return to the team in a third car, which they say has a charter they secured from an unrevealed team, after they picked up an option in his contract for 2023 just before he announced his move to 23XI Racing in 2024.

Some believe that the claim of a third charter was simply a way of trying to force an expensive contract buyout to get Reddick out of the organization a year early, given not only Richard Childress’s disgust at how the Reddick to 23XI Racing situation unfolded but how unconvincing Childress appeared to sound when asked about his plans for Reddick and why he is supposedly keeping him for 2023.

Plus, would the team really secure a third charter just for one year, or do they plan on replacing Reddick with somebody else in 2024?

Indeed, it appears as though Reddick’s contract has been bought out, and he is set to move to 23XI Racing in 2023. But will he do so as Busch’s replacement, or will he do so in a third car?
