NASCAR: 5 drivers who could replace Tyler Reddick
By Asher Fair
Possible Tyler Reddick replacements: No. 4 – Sheldon Creed
Sheldon Creed hasn’t had quite the level of success that rookie teammate Austin Hill has had with Richard Childress Racing throughout the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, failing to find victory lane and also failing to qualify for the playoffs, but he has made improvements throughout the year and should continue to do so moving forward.
While there will always be overreactions and teammate comparisons, there is little reason to panic yet, as the 24-year-old Alpine, California native is no stranger to second-year success.
Creed failed to qualify for the playoffs in his winless rookie Truck Series season with GMS Racing in 2019 while teammate Brett Moffitt advanced to the Championship 4, but he went on to win the championship with a five-win season in the same truck the following year.
A second Xfinity Series season would benefit Creed even more so than it would Hill. While the latter has the advantage of already having been given the opportunity to compete in a Cup race for the organization, a strong second season for Creed next year could make things a lot more interesting when it comes to the possibility of a third full-time Cup seat for Richard Childress Racing.
