Possible Nicholas Latifi replacements for 2023: No. 2 – Mick Schumacher

Williams team principal Jost Capito has long spoken highly of Mick Schumacher and recently admitted that the Grove-based team have considered him for their 2023 driver lineup.

There have been several drivers mentioned as possibilities to replace Schumacher alongside Kevin Magnussen at Haas next year, including Daniel Ricciardo, Antonio Giovinazzi, Nico Hulkenberg, and even Robert Shwartzman.

Hulkenberg has been seen as the favorite for quite some time, and with Ricciardo having all but ruled it out, Giovinazzi having crashed the VF-22 during practice at Circuit of the Americas, and Shwartzman having always been somewhat of a longshot, that did not change, and Hulkenberg ultimately did end up signing with the team.

Even if Haas had offered Schumacher a new deal, perhaps he would consider moving to Williams. He is already in line to cut his ties with Ferrari at the end of the season, and Haas never exactly showed a strong desire to keep him in their driver lineup, having paused contract talks several months ago.

At this stage, why not move to the one remaining alternative possibility if that team comes calling?

The only issue here is, of course, the fact that Schumacher won’t know if this is truly an option before Logan Sargeant knows if he has done enough to secure his Super License.
