NASCAR has recently stated that it is looking to conduct an international race in the near future. Which countries could host a race?

NASCAR is planning to expand its ever-growing schedule. By opening the 2022 season with a non-points paying race at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the first time, the sport continued to show its innovation.

Atlanta Motor Speedway was repaved, turning the 1.54-mile track turn into a superspeedway, and another new location in World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway was added to the schedule.

Each year, it seems that NASCAR is finding a new location for its drivers to compete, with a street race in Chicago having been added for 2023.

Steve O’Donnell recently confirmed interest in countries north and south of the border in terms of hosting a race in the foreseeable future. While the timetable for conducting a race outside of the United States is unknown, an international expansion appears to be a matter of when, not if.

Here are three countries that could possibly host a NASCAR race.

Countries that could host a NASCAR race: No. 1 – Brazil

NASCAR recently launched an international series in Brazil, partnering with GT Sprint Race starting next year. This could create a case for the country to host a national series event.

Fielding a NASCAR series outside of the United States has been done before, with the Mexico Series and Pinty’s Series running races in Mexico and Canada, respectively. The Xfinity Series has also visited Canada.

If the Brasil Sprint Series gains the steam it is hoping for, it’s fair to think that the Brazilian fans would want to see one of the three premier series.

Logistics could be a concern, as the Cup Series schedule is already 36 races long in the United States alone. Trying to find time for a one-off event in another country would be a challenge if the sport goes that route. Still, if NASCAR plans to unleash its next series in Brazil, it might want to explore the country as a possibility.
