Formula 1: Red Bull make history ahead of title defense

Reigning Formula 1 world champions Oracle Red Bull Racing launched their 2023 season in the United States, becoming the first team to do so.

For the first time 2014, Oracle Racing Bull Racing are set to enter a Formula 1 season as reigning world constructor champions, having won the title for the first time in nine years last year to end Mercedes’ reign of dominance.

The Milton Keynes-based team launched their 2023 challenger, the RB19, in New York City on Friday morning, becoming the first team ever to launch their season in the United States amid the sport’s meteoric rise in the country.

The launch was a broadcast to more than 30 countries across the globe and streamed by thousands of fans worldwide.

Three of the 2023 Formula 1 season’s 23 races are set to be contested in the United States.

First, the second annual Miami Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at Miami International Autodrome on Sunday, May 7. Then the 11th annual United States Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday, October 22. Finally, the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at the new Las Vegas Street Circuit on Saturday, November 18.

Additionally, Red Bull revealed the “Make Your Mark” campaign, which will give race fans the opportunity to design the liveries of the team’s RB19 entries for these three races. The campaign is powered by technology from title sponsor Oracle, which is headquartered in Austin, Texas.

They also announced that beginning in 2026, Red Bull Powertrains will be entering into a partnership with iconic American motorsport brand Ford. The organizations have an agreement to work together on the development of the next generation hybrid power unit that is set to supply engines to both Red Bull and sister team AlphaTauri three years from now.

The 2023 Formula 1 season is scheduled to get underway a month from tomorrow, Sunday, March 5, with the Bahrain Grand Prix at Bahrain International Circuit.
