NASCAR drivers who could fall out of the playoffs: No. 3 – Chris Buescher

I struggled including RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher in this group, given how solid he has been to start the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Based on the small sample size of two races, RFK Racing do appear to have taken a step forward from last year, their first season as RFK Racing following the addition of Brad Keselowski as a co-owner of the team.

Buescher himself sits in sixth place in the point standings with finishes of fourth and 13th. But how much stock can we put into a fourth place finish in a superspeedway race?

As far as RFK Racing are concerned, we need to see it to believe it. This is a team that hasn’t been to the playoffs since Ryan Newman qualified on points back in 2019, and they haven’t been to the playoffs with a win since Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won two superspeedway races back in 2017.

They weren’t all that close to getting into the postseason last year, save for a few potential upset wins that didn’t happen.

Buescher did seem to inject new life into the organization when he earned them their first win in more than five years by winning the playoff race at Bristol Motor Speedway, however, so don’t write them off completely.
