Drivers who can win both Indy races: No. 5 – Romain Grosjean

The No. 28 Andretti Autosport Honda has been fast each weekend this year, and that first career IndyCar win for Romain Grosjean is surely coming sooner rather than later. He has gotten plenty of experience leading races, and he’ll be more than comfortable if he gets to the front during the Indy 500.

Grosjean has proven he can race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, scoring two second place finishes in 2021. He started the GMR Grand Prix from the pole position two years ago when he was still with Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing. With rain currently in the forecast for Saturday, qualifying on Friday could be key.

The Indy 500 will only be Grosjean’s eighth career oval race, but he proved at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year that he is not backing down from the challenge. The practices leading up to the race will be key for him to find the limits of the track and fully understand the fuel limits of his Honda engine.

Grosjean is a longshot to win both races, but with the way he has raced so far this season, he should definitely find himself in contention for each.
