KEEP REFRESHING EVERY FEW LAPS OR SO FOR NEW UPDATES!
Going to try something new this week, I wanted to do it for the entire race, but took advantage of the rain delay to run to the store and missed the start of the race. Just going to try to give race updates for the last half of today’s race.
Lap 100: P1 is Stewart followed by 88, 15, 24, 16, 39, 20, 55, 2, and 42.
- Johnson and Biffle are having tire issues with blistering. Blistering is the talk of the day for many teams.
Lap 104: Dale Earnhardt Jr passes Stewart to take the lead for the second time of the race. Jr’s car seems to be the best on the long runs. Currently the points leader in the Live Points on NASCAR.com
Lap 110: Stewart is tight on entry in 1 and 3. Bowyer’s happy with the car. Gordon will be taking 4 tires on the next pit stop.
Lap 118: Dale Jr surrenders the lead to make a green flag pit stop. Jeff Gordon takes the lead.
Lap 121: Caution! Kurt Busch spins for the second time.
- Reading from TMone on Twitter that it’s not that Kurt can’t find sponsors, Finch is asking too much to sponsor. TMone clearly showed interest in sponsorship, but couldn’t afford the numbers Finch wanted.
Lap 125: Restart: Gordon leads followed by 88, 14, 42, 15, 99, 16, 55, 17, 27. Dale Jr takes the lead.
Lap 125: Caution on the restart. Huge crash on the backstretch. Logano collects Kasey Kahne trying to avoid Gilliland.
Lap 128: Many of the drivers who took the wave around are taking advantage of the caution. Been a solid day for Juan Pablo Montoya after the past few seasons have been full of struggle.
Lap 132: Restart: Dale Jr leads followed by 24, 42, 15, 14, 16, 99, 17, 55, and 9. Dale Jr holds on to the lead.
- Gordon can make it on one more stop just as Biffle can.
Lap 134: Caution again on the restart. Denny Hamlin spends and tears the inside of his car up.Car is on fire. Huge fire. 39 gets lose, gets the 11 lose and Hamlin can’t save it.
Lap 140: Restart: 88 leads. Letarte tells Dale Jr that he is good to go on one more stop. 88 holds the lead on the restart. Most of the leaders are also good to go on one more stop. Johnson gets a good restart and grabs a few positions.
Lap 151: Tony Stewart is slowly but surely catching up to leader Dale Jr.
Lap 154-158: Dale Jr says the car is a little snug at both ends of the track. Smoke says Dale Jr isn’t going anywhere & is 10 laps from a pit stop. Gordon will be pitting in the next 10 laps. Biffle’s car is getting better as the day goes on. Bowyer is being told to just hit his marks. Kenseth feels good about his car. Johnson is being told to take it easy on the tires. Edwards is loose getting back into the gas. Mark Martin has a good car he says to win. Montoya is running free.
Lap 162: Johnson begins the final cycle of pit stops under the green flag.
Lap 163: Dale Jr surrenders the lead to pit. Should be the final pit stops of the day. “Don’t adjust it too much” – Dale Jr to Letarte. 2 tire stop for Dale Jr.
Lap 166: Clint Bowyer pitting for the final time, will only take fuel, NO TIRES!
Lap 170: Keselowski still has to pit and when he does, his old boss, Dale Jr will take the lead again.
Lap 177: Bowyer is LOOSE LOOSE LOOSE. Upset they didn’t take two tires.
Lap 200: Dale Jr wins, ending a four year drought to the race. Last win 2008, June Michigan race. Happy Father’s day Dale Sr!
