While the manufacturer Ford will likely always be synonymous with the name Bill Elliott to most NASCAR fans,  he actually won the last four races of his storied career in a Dodge fielded by Ray Evernham.  Elliott’s last win came in that dodge at North Carolina Motor Speedway in 2003. A week later he almost won the season closer at Homestead-Miami, but cut a tire while leading the last lap relinquishing the win to Bobby Labonte.  He finished 9th in the season points that year and a few weeks after the end of the season announced that he would be handing over the reigns to the #9 Dodge to young Kasey Kahne.  That was his last full-time season. He continued on as a part-time driver for several years but never experienced another win in NASCAR’s premier series.
