NASCAR: 10 Observations After 1/4 Of The Season

Kyle Larson And Austin Dillon Might Be In Sophomore Slumps.
Coming into 2014 Austin Dillon was predicted by many to win ROTY. Kyle Larson had something to say about that and outshined Dillon numerous times in 2014. In 2015 things have been a little bit different for both drivers as neither is quite where they want to be.
Larson (18.5 average finish) is having a better season than Dillon (22.4 average finish) but Larson also missed a race for medical reasons. As a result Larson (20th) and Dillon (24th) are fairly close to one another in the point standings.
Dillon was known for his top-20 finishes in 2014. Those finishes usually weren’t anything spectacular but they were consistent and consistency is key in this sport. Dillon has six top-20 finishes this season but he also has a couple of finishes outside of the top-35. For Larson the only real issue right now is consistency. Larson has four top-12 finishes to go along with four finishes of 25th or worse.
If both drivers find their consistency they could also find their ways into the chase. If both drivers remain inconsistent it could result in a disappointing Sophomore season for them.
