It would certainly be easy, at first glance, to name the NASCAR Chase winners and losers after the first five races have now been completed. The winners are the drivers still eligible for the 2015 Championship and the losers are the drivers who have been eliminated from contention. That only tells part of the story, however.

Of those still eligible, who is in a position to move on to the Eliminator Round? Who isn’t? Who has performed as expected? Overachieved? Underachieved? These are all things that truly determine who has been a winner thus far in the Chase and who has not. Winning a championship is the ultimate goal but not getting there isn’t the ultimate failure.

Drivers will be categorized as follows:

  • Losers
  • Win Some / Lose Some
