There have been thousands of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races since the sanctioning body was founded in 1948. Unfortunately it wasn’t until 1979’s Daytona 500 when the series had its first race broadcast flag-to-flag. It took another 10 years until every single one of the Cup Series races on the schedule were broadcast live.

With so many races having been run over the years, it is easy to forget great races and close finishes. The following are five races which may not be held in reverence to some of the standard NASCAR classics but are must-watch events for fans of NASCAR and good racing in general.
