Four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon won 93 races in his career. Each of those races might have been special for a different reason but five of them standout as being the most significant in his career.

In what will become a regular series in 2016, Beyond The Flag will be chronicling each driver’s five (5) most significant wins in their Sprint Cup career. A win can be significant for a variety of reasons, it could have been that driver’s very first win, it could be a win in a marquee race, it could be a win at a track that had thus far eluded that driver, it could have been a door-to-door fight with another driver right down to the checkered flag or it could have just had a special meaning to that driver on that day.

We will begin with the recently-retired Jeff Gordon. That’s both good and bad news. It will allow us to continue reminiscing on Jeff’s remarkable career a little longer, but how can it be possible to pick just five wins from a career that saw Jeff have 93 of them?  Well, not every headline-making win can possibly be recognized. Readers may have their own memories and suggestions, and are encouraged to comment herein and via our social media outlets. The nice thing is that nobody’s list is going to be “right” or “wrong,” but each person’s list will be their memories of a true champion.

For this list, we have stuck to wins which elicited higher-than-average emotions, set a record or were career firsts.
