Earnhardt Jr. Gets Desperate (2008)

What do you do when there’s 75 laps to go, you’re a lap down and you just want one more crack at winning the Daytona 500?

You start trying desperate things!

Dale Earnhardt Jr. did just that when he aggressively tagged Brian Vicker’s rear quarter panel, causing him to fly up the track and take out several other cars in the process.

Although Jr was the first car a lap down at the time of the incident, NASCAR ultimately decided against giving Jr his lap back because he was the cause of the accident. Dale Jr. finished the race in 9th and later did an interview with Fox Sports to discuss the incident where he apologized for what happened in the Daytona 500.
