NASCAR: Defining Success For ’16 Sprint Cup Rookies
Jeffrey Earnhardt
That’s right, there is another Earnhardt who will be racing in the Sprint Cup Series in 2016, and that man is Jeffrey Earnhardt. Jeffrey is the son of former NASCAR driver Kerry Earnhardt, grandson of Dale Earnhardt, and nephew of Dale Earnhardt Junior. Despite the famous name, he has been struggling to get his name out there in the top NASCAR ranks.
The primary issue for Jeffrey Earnhardt has been the lack of sponsorship. He is a talented race car driver who needs his chance at a successful NASCAR team, be it in the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, or the Truck Series. His ride in 2016 may be the first step towards getting name recognition in NASCAR. Jeffery has signed on to race at least 20 races for Go Fas Racing in 2016, with sponsorship from Can-am (11 races) and Corvetteparts.net (8 races). Earnhardt could race as many as 32 races if sponsorship falls into the right place for the No. 32 team.
While he will be competing for the ROTY officially, it will be all but impossible that Earnhardt could win the award, giving that he is not even guaranteed to be racing more than 20 events in 2016. That being said, Jeffrey Earnhardt can succeed this season. Success for this team will be to avoid start-and-parking and for Earnhardt to avoid DNFs. Logging laps and gaining experience will help Jeffery Earnhardt achieve his goal of getting into good equipment in NASCAR.
Success for the No. 32 team: Logging laps and avoiding accidents will hopefully allow Earnhardt to gain experience and name recognition in 2016.
