I always remember 2011. NASCAR underestimated the impact that the tandems would have, and didn’t make alterations to the restrictor plates. Speeds were well north of 200 and the closing rate was incredible. They broke the record for lead changes in the Shootout and even after making changes for the 500 broke the record in that race as well. Everybody seemed to hate the tandems, but I felt they ran an extremely entertaining plate package that year.
