No. 1 – Dude, Where’s The Side Of My Car?

The worst wreck of the weekend goes to Darrell Wallace Jr. and the No. 6 machine in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

On Saturday in Las Vegas all seemed to be going well for NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Darrell Wallace Jr. and his racing team with 73 laps to go in the Boyd Gaming 300. Sure, Wallace wasn’t quite where he wanted to be when it came to track position but overall he was feeling good and ‘having fun’ out there. With 63 laps to go the feelings and emotions were completely changed after Wallace was involved in a hard wreck that took off the entire right side of his No. 6 machine. Following the wreck the race was put under red flag conditions.

The wreck took place after Cody Ware got his No. 25 machine into the wall. From there the No. 25 machine slide down into the middle of the track which forced other cars to do their best to avoid making contact with it. Wallace was not one of the luck cars who was able to avoid making contact and the result was his right side hitting the No. 25 machine in the front end as it went but. Justin Marks, the driver of the No. 42 machine was also involved. Marks’ car got into the driver side of Wallace’s No. 6 machine after it already made contact with the No. 25 machine.

Both hits that Wallace took were hard hits and after the wreck he was okay but I am willing to bet that he was feeling those hits Sunday morning. No driver wants to be in a hard wreck and no drivers wants to be in a hard wreck where they suffer multiple hard hits. On Saturday Wallace was in that position and that’s why he ends up in the top spot this week.
