Happy Halloween!

While it may be the final weekend of April, turning into the beginning of May, the fall Talladega race previously was run on Halloween weekend, creating some very spooky antics in the infield. Talladega’s infield already had a reputation before this for its craziness and party-like atmosphere, but throw Halloween on top of this, and you get one wild weekend away. Naturally, the folks at Speed TV (now FS1) wanted to get in on this action too.

Speed TV was almost always in the Halloween spirit when NASCAR fell on or around the holiday. Years back, the entire Truck Series broadcast crew came in costume for the race, and it was certainly a sight to behold. But at Talladega on Halloween, there was no show that could top Trackside Live, hosted by the late Steve Byrnes. And the costumes were certainly outrageous.

In this clip, you’ll see the full cast of characters in their many colorful costumes, plus a visit from Carl Edwards, while he was still racing for Roush-Fenway Racing. Jared from Subway, who is now serving a prison sentence for involvement with child pornography, joins him. But even as things have changed since 2009, the clip is still golden in NASCAR circles.
