NASCAR: Winners And Losers From Pocono
By Cole Mentzel
NASCAR finished off a long weekend with an entertaining race at the Tricky Triangle. Check out a few winners and losers from Pocono.
Pocono Raceway serves as one of the fastest and longest tracks in the NASCAR circuit. With three unique turns and the capability of producing some thrilling restarts, it has it all.
On Monday, drivers took to the track after the Axalta ‘We Paint Winners’ 400 was postponed due to rain. It was the first time since April of 2014 that NASCAR had been forced to go racing on a Monday.
Four different drivers were able to get out front for at least 15 laps while Chase Elliott led the most (51). Controlling every restart where he started on the front row, Elliott looked like the eventual winner at one point, but a shortage of fuel cost him late as he settled for 4th place.
The race proved to be a battle between drivers without a win this season as five of the top six finishers were searching for their first.
After a few key penalties, some wrecks involving big-name drivers and late-race fuel mileage situations, Kurt Busch was able to steal a win and punch his ticket to the Chase this season, joining the eight other drivers who have won so far.
Take a look at a few winners and losers from Monday’s race.
