The race at Kentucky Speedway turned out to be one that saw several drivers struggle with the new surface and one driver emerge as the man to beat in the Sprint Cup Series. Here are five lessons learned from the Quaker State 400.
Before the race at Kentucky started on Saturday night, there were a lot of questions surrounding the track itself.
Would the re-pavement change the type of racing seen at Kentucky? How would tires be impacted? Can the new downforce package impact the race more than it did at Michigan, and would drivers be able to handle all of these changes?
These questions were answered on Saturday night as some drivers struggled with the re-pavement and the downforce package while others seemed to thrive with the changes.
The new surface and new downforce package will undoubtedly be met with mixed reviews, but Brad Keselowski more than likely doesn’t have a problem with any of the changes as he won his fourth race of the season on Saturday night.
Now the 2 team has emerged as the group to beat in NASCAR as we move closer to the start of the Chase.
