Xfinity: Kyle Busch Adds Another Win at New Hampshire
By Alex Herbst
Kyle Busch added another win to his historic NASCAR Xfinity Series career, winning the Auto Lotto 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Whenever Kyle Busch is in the field in any NASCAR race, he is always dangerous. He proved to be a shark in the water again today, dominating the competition in the Auto Lotto 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon. But that wasn’t the only big story coming out of the Granite State today.
Busch, who started on pole, led 190 of 200 laps around the Magic Mile, but it was not an easy road to victory lane. Fellow Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Erik Jones was up to the task of challenging the Xfinity and Cup champion for the lead and the win. Getting four tires on the final pit stop compared to Kyle’s two, Erik Jones would come up just short, finishing second.
Brad Keselowski would have a solid run for Team Penske in third, while Daniel Suarez of Joe Gibbs Racing and Austin Dillon of Richard Childress Racing rounded out the top five finishers. Just thirteen cars would finish on the lead lap, speaking to the torrid pace that Busch put down on the competitors.
Perhaps the most memorable moment to come out of the race on Saturday afternoon was a conflict between Alex Bowman, who will substitute for Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Sunday, and Ty Dillon.
The incident occurred when Bowman spun Dillon following being squeezed into the wall, causing Dillon to crash and finish 33rd. In the garage, Dillon would put the blame squarely on Bowman, while Bowman remained certain he it was not intentional in his post-race interview. Regardless of the words said, Dillon would show Bowman his displeasure on track later in the race, but it did not escalate to any further incidents.
Who’s to blame for the wreck? You be the judge.
Kyle Busch’s win today put him over 17,000 laps led all-time in the Xfinity Series. It was also his 82nd win overall in the second national division for NASCAR, most all-time by far over Mark Martin.
