Every week Checkered Countdown brings you the list of the five best finishes in the history of the tracks on the Sprint Cup Series schedule. This week our focus will be on the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway where the Brickyard 400 will be run on Sunday.

Built in 1909 this 2.5-mile oval has become worldwide famous for the Indianapolis 500 run during the month of May. In 1994 though NASCAR made its first appearance there with the first running of the Brickyard 400 which has become one of the most important races on the calendar.

Many NASCAR drivers have permanently linked their name to this place and many more would love to do the same but there will be space for only one on Sunday. This year’s race has gotten even more attention to it thanks to the return of Jeff Gordon who is filling in for an injured Dale Earnhardt Jr. Who will kiss the bricks this weekend?
