4. Romain Grosjean from Formula One to NASCAR

The idea has been floated of a crossover between Stewart-Haas Racing in NASCAR and the Haas Formula One team. Haas F1 driver Romain Grosjean is reportedly interested in running a NASCAR road course race, and will be attending two NASCAR races this fall as a spectator.

Grosjean’s preference cuts down his options on the NASCAR schedule, leaving him with two Cup races or one of three Xfinity races. What would seem to make the most sense is the Xfinity Series team that Stewart-Haas will be adding next season.

Working in Grosjean’s favor is that the schedules between the two series seem to line up for him to be able to cross over. It is expected that F1’s traditional August summer break will remain intact on the 2017 calendar. Two of the Xfinity Series’ three road course races – one at Watkins Glen, and one at Mid-Ohio) – should be within that break. There will be testing and preparation required on Grosjean’s part, but if it’s something he wants to do, it’s possible.

With all of that factored in, Grosjean’s dream of running a NASCAR race is perhaps the most realistic and easiest driver crossover to accomplish.
