Tires Will Be a Major Issue

When NASCAR headed to Phoenix for the first time this season in the spring, there were five cautions during the race.

Every single one of those cautions was caused by a driver having tire issues.

With tires clearly being a problem in the spring, you would think that NASCAR would try something different with the tires this time in the Chase, or something different with the aero package to help keep speeds at a level where tires won’t fall apart.

Instead though NASCAR has kept the tire and aero packages the same as we get ready for one of the final races of the season.

Phoenix can get hot and over the recent years we’ve seen how much tires play an issue at this track. With only two spots remaining in the Chase, the race to fill those spots is going to be intense and as drivers push their cars and tires to the limit.

Expect tire problems again on Sunday but this time they could end the chances of winning a championship for some of the Chase drivers.
