The 2017 Clash at Daytona will take place Saturday night from Daytona.

NASCAR fans are getting a 2017 NASCAR season preview this weekend with the running of the Clash at Daytona on Saturday evening. This perennial event which has been run since 1979 has featured some memorable finishes, accidents, and surprise victors.

The Clash at Daytona began as the Busch Clash back in 1979, and has undergone numerous format, name, and participant qualification changes over the course of time, and this weekend is no different. Pole winners from the 2016 season, former Daytona 500 pole-sitters and 2016 Chase drivers round out a field of 17 (20 drivers are eligible for the race but only 17 will be running in it).

In light of the unofficial first race of the season this Saturday night I have featured the five most memorable finishes in Clash history.
